Favorite Movies of Other Decades

I recently posted my faovorite movies of the decade.  Here's my top three for the 90's, 80's and 70's:

Honorable mentions for the 2000's, by the way, include Iron Man, Star Trek and the new Batman movies.

Internet Officially Gone

Yup. It's gone at home now. We'll probably look into picking up a phone line and DSL. That will kill two birds with one stone: a.) stick it to the man (Comcast Cable), and b.) get us internet access at home (duh). On an entirely unrelated note, I'm looking forward to this movie.

Ten Pounds

While I was sick, I lost ten pounds. Here's how it was distributed: four pounds of fat off my waist, five pounds of muscle all over, and one pound of hair that they shaved off my arm to put in the IV while I was in the hospital.

On a related note, my doctor said during a follow up check-up yesterday that I was the sickest adult he's seen in a long time. I'm so proud. I was there so that he could check to see if my spleen was still swollen. It is, as expected. I won't be playing rugby or any other of my favorite contact sports any time soon.

On a related note, the picture above is superhero "The Spleen" from my favorite comedy "Mystery Men." He's pretty gross. It was appropriate that Paul "Pee-Wee Herman" Reubens played the character.

Matt B-U-R-L-Y's Top Ten Movies

A discussion at our church small group meeting made me revisit my top ten list of movies. My original list is here.

10. The Muppet Movie (nostalgia)
9. Rocky (inspiration)
8. Dumb & Dumber (influence on current generation of comedies)
7. Zoolander (no reason necessary)
6. Nacho Libre (brilliant and brilliant)
5. Raising Arizona (Coen brothers best ... Hudsucker Proxy also makes my top 20)
4. Waiting for Guffman (Levy, Guest and Willard are geniuses ... their 2 follow-up movies were commercially more successful, but this one is the real deal)
3. The Bourne Identity (I just liked it. I'd also put a Tom Clancy movie or two [the Harrison Ford ones] into my top 20)
2. Mystery Men (I don't know why - it was simply spectacular)
1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (simply the best)

Honorable mentions: The Empire Strikes Back, The Return of the Pink Panther, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Karate Kid I & II, the original Star Wars, the original Batman (Keaton/Nicholson), Batman Begins, Ishtar, and finally Luther. What's on your top ten? Just go with your gut.

Filming Is Done

On Rocky 6? Yes. But I was referring to my footage for the 10th anniversary commemorative interviews for the Rockymentary. My college friends and I filmed this documentary on the Rocky movies. Should be a great film. Not Rocky 6 (though it's getting more good press than bad [surpisingly]).
