A Day at the Hospital

*Warning: Medical Grossness*

Quick Update: 1.) I (Matt) was admitted to the hospital yesterday after a trip to my primary care physician and an ENT specialist, 2.) I returned this evening after a very nice dosage of medications and fluids!

I am at home feeling very good, but I won't pretend I'm feeling better because I now know that I have MONO. Short story (too long for some of you - not detailed enough for others): I had a bacterial abcess in my throat. The antibiotic tried to fight it, but it had nowhere to drain. On the other side of my body I had mono. When the antibiotics started picking a fight with the viral mono, the mono fought back giving me a nasty rash. My throat was so sore I couldn't swallow. So, on Friday the ENT Specialist drained my abcess. I immediately felt so, so, so, so, so much better. Then I went to the hospital with a 104 degree fever, somewhat dehydrated, with the rash, and still didn't have the mono yet diagnosed. I spent the night getting medicine (antibiotics, steroids and fluid) coursing through me. It felt so good.

Now I'm at home on all the same medicines by mouth, I'm drinking plenty, and I'm eating soft foods My rash is decreasing.

So, with the mono, I'll continue to take it easy. Thanks to everyone for their support in every way. Thanks to Naomi for caring and giving so much (don't worry, I've thanked her in person). Thanks to a God who sustains and restores.

Greatest Love Song

This is, perhaps the greatest 80s-style power ballad sung by a white actor portraying a Mexican monk/minister/cook/pro-wrestler (luchador) from the movie Nacho Libre. Always brings tears to my eyes. Or maybe those tears come from being over-medicated. Now I'm going to take my mom's advice. I'm going to step away from the keyboard and go take a nap.
