Context & Application

*Updated and corrected*

In a very calm voice, Sam said this to Naomi today: "I want to cut Ben in half."

Naomi said that he couldn't do that. She said "Did you get that from a story?"

Sam said "Yeah. My Bible story" (referring to Solomon judging betwixt the two prostitutes arguing over the baby.

Last night we asked him who was going to cut the baby in half. He guessed "Jesus." Jesus is the central person of the Bible, but he's not always the answer to every question (even though some bumper stickers would suggest otherwise).

This is a pretty good illustration of why it's important that we understand the context of a story before we blindly apply it to our current situation.

On an unrelated note, I don't need this board game for Christmas. I already have this. That's all I need.

So does this mean Matthew makes the family listen to his sermons ahead of time for practice?
